Stowe Reporter Police Blotter
Law Enforcement Torch Run 2012
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a campaign by law enforcement
and public safety departments and agencies, to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics athletes. This year Stowe
Police had several officers including Chief Hull ran on June 2 through the village of Stowe to benefit the Vermont Special
Olympics and their 2012 Summer games.

Stowe Police Officer now certified
as RAD Self Defense Instructor Officer
Bruce Emerson recently completed training to become a certified RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) instructor for Stowe Police
Department. Previously RAD classes had been offered in Lamoille County through Lamoille County Sheriff's Department in Hyde
Park. With Officer Emerson's certification, Stowe Police Department will begin conducting classes in the Stowe area in the

Stowe Police Department Presented Flag
from Afghanistan On January
25, 2011, the officers and staff of the Stowe Police Department were presented with a flag that had flown over Camp Phoenix
in Afghanistan. The flag was flown 'in the face of the enemy' at Forward Operating Base Lightning located
near Gardez, Afghanistan. The flag was brought back to Vermont by members of Task Force Avalanche, which included members
of the Vermont Army National Guard Mountian unit. The flag was presented to the Stowe Police Department by Dustin
Knight, son of Corporal David Knight, who served with the Vermont Army National Guard in Afghanistan. The flag was accepted
by Sergeant Steve Stewart on behalf of the Department. The Stowe Police Department is proud to display this flag in the Public Safety Facility.
